Who are you?

Hi, welcome to JAAQ at Work. I'm James Co-founder of Rewire Neuro Performance Therapy. Please come and talk to me about nervous system training. How does it work? How can I train the nervous system? What does that look like? How can I cope with stress? How can I train my visual system to improve my energy levels throughout the day? And how can I reduce physical aches and pains around my body?

How does nervous system training work?

So nervous system training is basically a system of improving the information going into your brain. So we're taking all the information that's going in and trying to train that so that it works better. So that might be your vision, your breathing, your balance, the sensory systems of touch in your body, all of those things. When the brain gets better information going in, it makes you a better able to make decisions and have better thoughts that lead to better actions and better outcomes.

What are the benefits of doing nervous system exercises?

When we're working with you, we are working to more efficiently train all of the sensory information coming into the brain. That means we should be conserving a lot of energy for conserving energy. Then feeling more energetic should be one of the top things that you experience. You are also likely to experience a better mood, so emotional regulation becomes a little bit easier. Usually that comes with reducing symptoms of negative emotions, so that can be pain, sadness, irritation, anger, anything that kind of fits in that category we can help to improve. And then the big thing, because your brain predominantly is built for movement, we should find that you're also able to move much better than you were before. Whether that's you're more flexible, more fluid, you're stronger, better balancing, all of those things kind of come as a nice perk alongside the mental benefits.
