Who are you and what do you do?
I am Ryan Frost and I'm a senior comps design engineer at our Alpine F1 team.
What is your background?
My background is that I was born in Norfolk. I grew up around steam engines and vintage tractors with my granddad, and eventually it led me to a university degree at the University of Bath, where I studied a master's degree for five years. And then I was lucky enough, as part of that, to do a placement within F1, and then subsequently I was lucky enough to continue that after university as a career.
Why F1 and why Alpine?
I've always been fascinated by F1. So as a kid I used to record it on VHS and watch it back. So pausing out all the adverts and things like that. So it was something I grew up very interested in and following. I never thought I didn't chase it explicitly, but it's something that came my way following my own personal hobbies and trends and things. I enjoyed the subjects even at school. It led me to that university and the opportunity to have that chance in F1, and that's where I think a few things came together for me and I was actually able to turn something I love into a career.
