As a HSBC member, how do I access mental health treatment?

What can I expect when calling the Bupa EAP service?

When you called the service, you will have the call answer by a qualified counsellor and they will be there twenty four there to take your call and listen to anything you've got to say, anything that you need support with at that time. It will be a confidential conversation in a safe place. Let's think about then what happens within those calls. So it might be that you just need to offload, you need to speak to someone for emotional support. Something may have happened, for example in the workplace, or it might be something at home and you're just like.. Speak to someone who is qualified and able to support you with whatever is going on for you. We also know that different things can affect our emotions and our mental health, and they can be things such as legal issues, financial issues and family issues. And as part of the Employee Assistance Program, you have access to guidance and advice from different services and support services around those areas as part of your Employee Assistance programme and the Council will assess that with you and decide whether that is suitable for you. It may be that the councillor.. Thinks that you need an assessment for your mental health and it may be at the end of that assessment they decide that actually some structured counselling is going to be helpful for you. And if that is the case, they will make that recommendation and referral for you to get that support that you need. Or it might be in fact that you need some form of mental health treatment and the EAP service is the best service to get that direct access into the healthcare plan and get the treatment that you need. We also have mental well-being programs.. As part of an online program for support that you can access to and that is available to you through the Employee Assistance program.

My mental health is affecting me at work, who should I speak to?

Expert support, guidance and advice is only a phone call away with your employee assistance program. I'd really encourage you to speak to a qualified councillor about whatever it is that's going on for you in regards to your mental health and well-being and they will be on hand to give you that support and guidance that you need. If you're able to, please do speak to your line manager and if not, contact HR and raise a HR direct case.
