As a HSBC member, how do I access mental health treatment?
The easiest and quickest way to access mental health treatment and support at Bupa is via the Employee Assistance Program. The Employee Assistance program is a confidential service, and it's there 24 7, 365 days a year for yourself, your partner, and your children's 16 years and over under your roof. Your E A P also provides the access point into mental health treatment via your healthcare plan, and just remember that you don't need a GP referral.
My mental health is affecting me at work, who should I speak to?
Expert support, guidance, and advice is only a phone call away with your employee assistance program. I'd really encourage you to speak to a qualified counsellor about whatever it is that's going on for you in regards to your mental health and wellbeing, and they will be on hand to give you that support and guidance that you need. If you are able to, please do speak to your line manager, and if not, contact HR and raise a HR direct case.
What can I expect after my EAP appointment?
So when you've had the conversation with the Counsellor, they may decide that you actually need some further support and it may look in the form of a further conversation with someone who is there to guide you, for example, someone from a legal, financial, or a family perspective in one of the services that are available to you as part of the employee assistance program. Or it might be that the Counsellor de deems it necessary for you to have some structured counseling sessions following the conversation, and they will refer you into those counseling sessions. They will be quickly set up and they will be free to you and you will be able to access them very much straight away. And you will get the support you need from another qualified counsellor. Or you might go into the Bupa H S B C healthcare plan team and they will arrange the mental health treatment that is required for you based on the counselor's recommendation following your conversation and the assessment that they've made.
