How do I communicate with a deaf person?
Yes, whatever circumstance you find yourself in when you are speaking to a deaf person, whether it be an employee, somebody that you might meet, a friend, you should always communicate with that person and look at them directly. Don't ever look at the interpreter. They are there just to translate information from sign language into English. So always look at the deaf person as you would if you were speaking to a hearing person.
How many deaf people are there in the world?
There are 360 million people who are classed as deaf or hard of hearing in the world.
Is sign language universal?
No sign Language is not universal, just as there are thousands of spoken languages. There are also multiple sign languages across the world. It's around 300 recorded sign languages.
