What adjustments can I ask for at work?
You can pretty much ask for anything that you think will help you navigate your fertility journey. We encourage people to have constructive conversations with their employer and make it a give and take conversation. It may be that you start work earlier, you may finish later. You may take days off or compress your hours, but there's options available to you just obviously speaking to your employer. You'll get the best out of that conversation.
What am I entitled to?
In terms of fertility treatment, there's a lot of organisations that don't offer anything in terms of support or entitlement. There's a draught employment rights bill currently being set through Parliament to give people statutory paid time off for treatment, but this hasn't been passed yet, so it's up to individual organisation, whether they support you via paid leave or there's something else that they can offer you in terms of financial support for cycles of treatment.
Can I be fired if I disclose fertility treatment?
To be dismissed from your position. Your employer would have to follow a lawful reason to do so. If you feel that you are being discriminated against in work because of your fertility treatment, then please speak to a trusted HR colleague, your line manager, or somebody else that can support you. And then if you need further help, you can reach into acas, which are a free advisory service who will be able to help you navigate the conversation with your employer.
