What is an addiction?

It's a very tricky one to answer from my experience. If you have consequences from using something or doing something, then generally that's where there's concern for it to being addiction. If there's no consequences and there's no issue.

What does it feel like to have an addiction?

Ultimately, it's like being blindfolded. All you can think about is, for me it was cocaine, so all I could think about was cocaine. When I wake up in the morning to when I go to bed at night, it's finding out who I can get credit from, who I can get from where I can get it from. It is a complete obsession, and then throw in a hell of a lot of fear with that. It's not a healthy feeling to be having.

What caused your addiction?

For me, I suffered with low self-esteem and insecurities, and when I took my substance of choice for the first time, I had this overwhelming confidence in euphoria and this feeling that I'd kind of always been searching for and effectively did for me what I couldn't do for myself. And I spent a lot of time and money chasing that.
